Dealing with the postal strike
(photo: Edmonton Journal) If you are about to mail your wedding invitations or perhaps waiting for those rsvps to return in your mailbox, the current postal strike definitely isn’t making things easy. Although, Edmonton delivery is not affected yet, it may be. With our fingers crossed it may not affect us at all, and if it does – it won’t be a long strike as negotiations continue. Here are some tips: If you need to mail your invites, this is where proper etiquette may suffer. - If you’re not able to wait – mail invitations to guests living in Edmonton now before the strike affects us; hopefully they reach guests’ mailboxes in time. Typically mail within Edmonton is delivered in 1-2 business days. Trick: ensure you mail them in the morning for the 10am run. - If you’re mailing to areas outside of Edmonton, like Winnipeg, who has been affected by the strike you can set up a wedding website with your details. You’ll need to then give your guests a call and let them know about the website. You can also do this if Edmonton is eventually affected. - Do not invite guests via facebook, e-vites or email. This is extremely bad etiquette and typically not received well by guests. If you’re a few weeks or days away from your wedding and still waiting for RSVPs call your guests. Brides and grooms that are looking at ordering wedding items online, check the shipping options. You’ll be able to receive your packages using courier companies such as UPS or Fedex. Bottom line: Don’t panic! My bet is that the strike won’t last long. |

Prince William and Kate Middleton: Congratulations!
Their day has finally arrived. Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton are now husband and wife. And the ceremony was nothing short of beautiful. Kate wore a lace gown designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. On her head she wore a tiara made by Cartier in 1936 lent to her by the Queen. The tiara originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, given to her by her husband, and then given to the Queen on her 18thbirthday. She was absolutely stunning – a modern day Grace Kelly. Prince William looked dashing in his bright red tunic from his honorary position as colonel of the Irish Guards. Highlights of the ceremony included an unscripted smerk between the couple, and my favourite – when Prince William saw Kate for the first time and leaned over to say, “You look beautiful, I love you.” Back at Buckingham Palace, the happy couple appeared on the first balcony to greet the crowd and have their much anticipated kiss. The crowd received a treat when they exchanged two kisses! The queen has officially given them the title of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

{pineapple seed} jewelry
I stumbled across this fantastic jewelry website and I’m so glad that I did! Pineapple Seed is owned by a super-cute husband and wife team, Nathiya and Soraj Prathnadi. One word to describe their designs – simple….and I love it! These pieces are great for brides, bridesmaids, and moms – not to mention, they even have pieces for grooms and groomsmen! The best part about it, you can wear them after the big day – day or night. Pineapple Seed is located out of California, but they ship worldwide. Best of all for us in Canada, their shipping is a flat fee. And their prices are fair compared to other popular jewelry makers. Now please excuse me as I order some pieces for myself. |
