a golden wedding – Sheri and James

Sheri and James got married in Golden, B.C. on a beautiful mountain top!  The only way to the very top was by gondola ride.  Here’s a sneak peak of some of the photos by Wally Randall of LongEye Photography

{feature} Flexflop

A friend of ours came to town for a visit and brought this neat little pouch with her.  We had no idea what was inside, until later on in the night she whips out a pair of foldable flip flops!  Best invention ever!… Well at least your feet will think so.

Source:flexflop.com

You carry this trendy little pouch and when your feet begin to get sore you simply pull out your flexflops and your feet adore you again.  Not only are flexflops great when you’re out on the town, they are great to take along for pedicures, travel, even emergencies (like broken heels!)

They come in various colors, and you can even customize the bags.  Flexflop make a great Bridesmaid gift, or if you are a bridesmaid why not get one for the bride?.. What bride doesn’t love all things “bride?”  Some of the other pre-printed pouches include: pedi please, relax, fashionista, pamper me…etc.

I just love this item.  Only available through Amazon in Canada.  I can’t wait to get a pair for myself.  Find out more here, http://www.flexflop.com

{meet sofia}

Now that I have been introduced, I thought it was only fair if we let Sofia have the spotlight also.  I asked her some questions so you can all get to know her better.  Enjoy!

How would your husband describe you?

Good question! I was curious too – so I cheated and asked him! lol  And as the good (and smart) husband he is, he only said nice things!… playful, creative, compassionate,  studious, nice, hardworking, prompt and detail-oriented.

Do you have any pets?

I have the best pet ever! – my puppy Tito! Well he’s not really a puppy anymore, but he’s small and my little boy!

What was the last book you read?

I used to read a lot more books then I do now – I mostly read wedding magazines and blogs now – but I believe it was Emily Giffin’s Something Blue.

What’s your favorite food?

I really don’t have favorites – how can you possible pick just one? Its so hard, but if I must say something, I would say any seafood dish

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy singing, playing soccer, designing, and photography. Unfortunately, I don’t get much time for hobbies now.  I try to spend my free moments with my husband and meeting up with family and friends.

What is your motto in life?

I’m not sure if it’s really a motto but I live by this quote: “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.”

Which languages do you speak?

Portuguese, and Spanish – and well English in case it wasn’t clear. :)

What are you best at?

At being myself – no one else can be me! :)

Who has had the most influence in your life?

My parents – they were very strong role models.  I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without either of them.

What cartoon character best describes you?

Without a doubt – Jean Grey from X-men

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

Would I be able to take my family and friends?  If not, right where I am. (Canada is pretty awesome!)

If you knew you could try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?

When I was young, I wanted so bad to become a famous singer – now, I realize that what I’m meant to do is what I’m doing and if I can sing while I work then it’s a pretty awesome day!

Would you rather take pictures or be in pictures?

Can I say both?! Haha I’m quite the ham, I’m not shy at all so I’ll get right in a picture, but I also love to take pictures.  I took photography in University and just love different perspectives.

Are you a beach, country or city person?

Beach! – love, love, love the beach!

Where do you spend most of your money?

To anyone that really knows me, this seems like a pretty easy question – they would say shoes!  Yes, I love my shoes – shoes are definitely my weakness! However, I’m sure I spent a lot more money on the bare essentials like groceries.

What inspired you to create love+design?

Aside from being a certified wedding planner, I was first a graphic designer.  When I got married I created all the stationary pieces for my wedding and no one could stop talking about it.  My family and friends kept encouraged me to provide this service to others.  I finally realized that this would be the perfect compliment to wedding planning.  I would have the ability to really execute a wedding theme thoroughly.

And that is Sofia in a nut shell.  Sofia is the older sister, and my best friend growing up.  She was always there for me and was always willing to help me get through my “tough times”.  I can’t imagine my life without her.  As much as I bug her about her age, her height, and any silly thing she may say or do, she will always be my sister and now my business partner. Love ya OLDER, yet SHORTER sis ;)

Money Box Ideas

Unique or Traditional Money Boxes?

Many couples now look for unique and creative ideas for money boxes.  I’ve seen many cute and unique holders.

If you are the “Do it Yourself” bride, then some of these boxes will be beneficial for you.  Some things you want to remember when creating these boxes are:

  - Always ensure you make a cut big enough for all sizes of envelopes to fit through, but keep the cut small enough that no hands can get in.

 - Ensure there is a safe way for you to open the box to retrieve the cards.

 - Ensure the cut is closer to the top portion of the box, this allows room for all cards to fit in the box, no matter how full it gets

 - If you are piling boxes together, make sure they are secure enough together that nothing can get through, you don’t want the box falling apart when you pick it up.

I pulled some ideas off the internet to help you out.  Check one more “To Do” item off your list ;)

{meet rita}

This week we met another great vendor; during our meeting she mentioned that we have no images on our site of us… thus inspiring this post.  By the way, we are working on getting images of us up on the site – we’ve just been busy with weddings!

With no further ado…Here’s Rita!

In my own words…
Rita:
-is my sister
-is practical
-is a no-nonsense kind of gal
-is shy
-loves to work behind the scenes
-is ready to help
-is all about family
-loves raspberry peach Italian sodas

Despite all of her many traits, I appreciate her encouragement.  She pushes you to be the best you can be and is so proud when you succeed even if its something minimal.

In her words:

What’s your favourite colour?
Purple, blue, red and yellow….. I couldn’t pick just one

What is your favourite drink?
Water, its so refreshing

Your favourite season?
Autumn, I love how the trees change color

Last movie you watched?
Get Him to the Greek

 Favourite pizza topping?
Cheese!!!!  You can never have too much cheese :)

What colour was your wedding?
Blue and White, after my husbands home football (soccer) team…. Am I a good wife or what…hehe

Instrument you play?
Clarinet.  If rockband counts then I also play guitar and drums =)

What has been your happiest moment in life?
My wedding day. Getting to marry the man of my dreams.  I can’t imagine my life without him.

What is one of your favourite quotes?
“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” – Winnie the Pooh

List 10 random things about you:

- I love Winnie the Pooh

- I am in love with love

- I’m shy, quiet and reserved

- I love having games nights

- I love to travel

- I love my only nephew Tito, even if he is a dog

- I use to be a Registered Massage Therapist

- I have two cats, Blackie and Ringo

- I love my reality shows

- I love helping others

sofia.
p.s. I love my sister! :)

announcement {love+design}

Here’s the big announcement I told you to look out for in my last post.  With my background as a graphic designer and a wedding planner,  I had a “a-ha” moment one day to start doing wedding stationary and more.  Actually, it wasn’t really a true “a-ha” moment as I’ve had tons of friends in the past tell me that I needed to do this, so I guess I finally gave in.  I am taking it a bit further though, I’m also creating monograms, baby announcements, shower invites and so forth.  I believe that all joyous events in life come from love so hence the name “love+design.”  Here’s a sneak peak of the collection.

I’m confident that this is going to be a great adventure and asset to any wedding we plan, afterall it will just make your entire day even more cohesive!

Shandro Photo took all the wonderful images that will be placed on the website, www.loveplusdesign.com (it launches June 6th), and they’ve blogged about it.  Check it out here.

tickled pink

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of heading down to Winnipeg, Manitoba for a good friend’s wedding.  In the midst of a few cold days, the day ended up to be beautiful with the sun shining.  My friend looked radiant and so did all the little details that made their day special.  Here’s a glimpse at their special day from my own camera.  Note the little monogram on her favours, courtesy of moi!  Consider that a HUGE hint on an upcoming announcement from me.

Tania, you looked amazing and your day was nothing short of beautiful.  Wishing the both of you all the best.  Love ya! xoxo

Can’t decide what to do for your guest book???

Are you going to have the traditional guest book?  You know the one…. it says guests on the front, comes with a feather pen.  Its easy, non time consuming and always looks pretty.  Seems like most couples try to steer in different directions these days, here are some other guest book ideas:

Photo book.  You can take your engagement pictures and create a book with them.  Many websites offer this service at a very inexpensive cost.  It looks beautiful, and you get to share your pictures with your guests.

Plate/Platter.  You can buy beautiful white platters at almost any home store.  Get a permanent maker and voila a keepsake that you can use for decoration in your house.

Framed photo.  Buy a frame that has a large border.  Frame your favorite picture and get your guests to sign around you.  This also makes a good show piece for the house.

Polaroid’s.  This is my favorite idea.  Ask whoever is minding your guest book table to take a Polaroid of each guest.  Have your guest sign the Polaroid, or you can paste it in a scrapbook and have the guest sign beside the picture.

I hope these ideas are useful to you; stay posted for more ideas in future blogs
